What is Chiropractic?  Dr. Stevenson described the priciples outlined in The Chiropractic Textbook-1948.

Some of the wording is hard to get the meaning of, but I’d be happy to translate.  Just comment and I’ll explain.

The 33 Chiropractic Principles
by Ralph W. Stephenson, DC

1. The Major Premise – A Universal Intelligence is in all matter and continually gives to it all its properties and actions, thus maintaining it in existence.

2. The Chiropractic Meaning of Life – The expression of this intelligence through matter is the Chiropractic meaning of life.

3. The Union of Intelligence and Matter – Life is necessarily the union of intelligence and matter.

4. The Triune of Life – Life is a triunity having three necessary united factors, namely: Intelligence, Force and Matter.

5. The Perfection of the Triune – In order to have 100% Life, there must be 100% Intelligence, 100% Force, 100% Matter.

6. The Principle of Time – There is no process that does not require time.

7. The Amount of Intelligence in Matter – The amount of intelligence for any given amount of matter is 100%, and is always proportional to its requirements.

8. The Function of Intelligence – The function of intelligence is to create force.

9. The Amount of Force Created by Intelligence – The amount of force created by intelligence is always 100%.

10. The Function of Force – The function of force is to unite intelligence and matter.

11. The Character of Universal Forces – The forces of Universal Intelligence are manifested by physical laws; are unswerving and unadapted, and have no solicitude for the structures in which they work.

12. Interference with Transmission of Universal Forces – There can be interference with transmission of universal forces.

13. The Function of Matter – The function of matter is to express force.

14. Universal Life – Force is manifested by motion in matter; all matter has motion, therefore there is universal life in all matter.

15. No Motion without the Effort of Force – Matter can have no motion without the application of force by intelligence.

16. Intelligence in both Organic and Inorganic Matter – Universal Intelligence gives force to both organic and inorganic matter.

17. Cause and Effect – Every effect has a cause and every cause has effects.

18. Evidence of Life – The signs of life are evidence of the intelligence of life.

19. Organic Matter – The material of the body of a “living thing” is organized matter.

20. Innate Intelligence – A “living thing” has an inborn intelligence within its body, called Innate Intelligence.

21. The Mission of Innate Intelligence – The mission of Innate Intelligence is to maintain the material of the body of a “living thing” in active organization.

22. The Amount of Innate intelligence – There is 100% of Innate Intelligence in every “living thing,” the requisite amount, proportional to its organization.

23. The Function of Innate Intelligence – The function of Innate Intelligence is to adapt universal forces and matter for use in the body, so that all parts of the body will have co-ordinated action for mutual benefit.

24. The Limits of Adaptation – Innate Intelligence adapts forces and matter for the body as long as it can do so without breaking a universal law, or Innate Intelligence is limited by the limitations of matter.

25. The Character of Innate Forces – The forces of Innate Intelligence never injure or destroy the structures in which they work.

26. Comparison of Universal and Innate Forces – In order to carry on the universal cycle of life, Universal forces are destructive, and Innate forces constructive, as regards structural matter.

27. The Normality of Innate Intelligence – Innate Intelligence is always normal and its function is always normal.

28. The Conductors of Innate Forces – The forces of Innate Intelligence operate through or over the nervous system in animal bodies.

29. Interference with Transmission of Innate Forces – There can be interference with the transmission of Innate forces.

30. The Causes of Dis-ease – Interference with the transmission of Innate forces causes incoordination of dis-ease.

31. Subluxations – Interference with transmission in the body is always directly or indirectly due to subluxations in the spinal column.

32. The Principle of Coordination – Coordination is the principle of harmonious action of all the parts of an organism, in fulfilling their offices and purposes.

33. The Law of Demand and Supply – The Law of Demand and Supply is existent in the body in its ideal state; wherein the “clearing house,” is the brain, Innate the virtuous “banker,” brain cells “clerks,” and nerve cells “messengers.”

Centenarians are people living to be 100 years or older.  They are one of the fastest growing populations.  However, if I asked the question, “If you knew you will live to be 100, what things in your life would you change?”  Most of you would respond, “I don’t want to live that long.”  Why not?  Well, probably, because most of us have seen our parents or grand parents age, and we don’t want that to be us.  Did you know that the average life-expectancy for someone turning 100 today was predicted by scientists in 1909 to be about 50?  People are doubling their life-expectancy all the time.  These people and many that are much younger in age are suffering.  Why?  Because the system of health care in the US is broken.  We start at birth with unnatural deliveries (drugs, induced labor, forceps, vacuums, c-sections, etc.), vaccination of all kinds throughout a lifetime, waiting until symptoms develop, get a diagnosis, treat and manage(notice I did not say fix or cure!) the diagnosed problem with drugs and/or surgery, take more drugs and have more surgery as our bodies fail one system at a time, move in with our kids because we can’t take care of ourselves, go to a nursing home because the kids can’t do it anymore, then we die.

We all know someone in that exact senario.  These people have spent 50-65 years working their respective tails off to build wealth, only to spend the next 50 years trying to buy back their health.  Ask anyone in a nursing home, and I would guess that none of them WANT to be there.  You don’t either.  Even my mom tells me that “if I am ever that way, wheel me off the ledge.”

Let me describe for you a different scenario, a chiropractic scenario.  You are born naturally, because your mother ate well, exercised and was adjusted by a chiropractor to align her pelvis and allow her body to do what it knows how to do.  You were not vaccinated, and no you didn’t die of childhood diseases as some pediatricians would like you to think.  You grew up being adjusted by a chiropractor from birth when needed.  You worked and played hard, but ate well, rested well, thought positively, and exercised the right way.  You build wealth and choose to stop working when you feel like it, not when you are eligible to draw from Social Security.  You age gracefully and share your knowledge of life with you children, grandkids, and great grandkids.  You die gracefully and pass your legacy on to the next generation.

Why are there so few who get to enjoy the above scenario?  It is about choices.  As a mentor of mine once told me, “Change is easy…thinking about change is hard, and if you change wrongly, you can always change back.”  It is about choosing to be educated on vaccination, choosing to get adjusted and get your family adjusted, choosing to eat well, choosing to exercise well, choosing to think well.

Chiropractic is a lifestyle.  A lifestyle that can change your story.  Change your life.  Change your family tree.

So many Americans suffer from high blood pressure (hypertension) due to our society’s poor dietary practices.  The usual medical protocol is to diagnose high blood pressure if the measured values are greater than 130/80.  Drugs are used in an attempt to regulate the high pressure over the course of a lifetime.  Anyone for a lifetime of prescription drug costs?

There are many natural ways to lower blood pressure consistently.  One is simply DRINK MORE WATER!  No, coffee, tea, soda, or alcohol of any kind does not count.  You need (we all need) more water.  Secondly, we could all afford to eat more fruits and veggies.  Raw is best, and the more, the better.  Juicing can help get lots of great nutrients quickly.  I feel that for the money the Jack LaLanne Juicer is the best, and is easy to find on sale, too.  Third, and possibly most important, have your atlas adjusted by an upper cervical(neck) specialist of which I am one.

These specialized chiropractors can be hard to find because there are a relative few of us.  For instance, I practice an upper cervical technique called Blair.  There are 3 of us in the entire state of Colorado, therefore I see patients from all over Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, and Kansas.  A couple of great places to find an upper cervical doctor near you are: www.blairchiropractic.com and www.upcspine.com.

Recently, Good Morning America had a special news segment on the effectiveness of specific atlas adjustments and reducing high blood pressure.  Click on the link for the video.  The overall lesson is that Blair Chiropractic is more than just neck pain, back pain, and headaches (although, we are great at fixing these, too).  It is about restoring health and your body’s own ability to heal itself, as long as there is no interference to the function of the nervous system.  Enjoy the video.

High blood pressure and chiropractic on GMA

Migraines are debilitating.  They impact people at work, at home, in their relationships and with their families. Typically, migraines take time to develop.  They usually begin with common headaches and grow over time into the complex problem that many people face.  Migraines are complex because there are three fronts on which you must attack the problem.  One is the structural cause of the headache.  The others are the chemical toxicity caused by the medicinal treatment used to attempt to prevent or treat a migraine once it strikes, and the emotional stresses we all face.  In my experience, as with most chronic symptoms like fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, Parkinson’s, and migraines, these episodes all start with some traumatic event.  These traumas can be physical like car accidents or serious injury, but they can also be emotional or chemical.  Emotional events can be overlooked, but play as much a role in the development of migraines, if not more than the physical events.  Divorce, a death in the family, work-related stresses, etc. can set off the chain of events that lead to these chronically debilitation situations.  Chemical toxicity can come from the food we eat, pollution, and medicines.

The treatment of migraines must include a plan to fight the chemical toxicity, any emotional causes and the structural injury.  First, the structural cause must be stabilized.  This is what I specialize in.  Using precise analysis through thermography, postural analysis and x-ray, spinal misalignments that cause nerve irritation (subluxation) are found.  Subluxation of the top 2 bones in the spine lead to health issues of all kinds, but migraines are always (yes, I said always) caused by atlas(C1) and/or axis(C2) subluxation.  Nerve irritation at these levels of the 1st and 2nd cervical(neck) vertebrae(bones of the spine) are the cause of migraines.  Correction of these vertebral misalignments allow for the nerve function to be restored.  This functional restoration leads to healing of the body.  Health is defined by 100% function.  It is the brain and nervous systems job to make the body function at 100%.  Any irritation to the nervous system leads to illness, therefore, any irritation must be corrected for healing to occur.  Correction of atlas/axis subluxations is not a one time thing.  Stability of this area can take weeks to months depending on how long these injuries have been there.  I am an expert at correcting the structural cause of migraines.  One thing is certain…the body is a self-healing machine as long as the nerve flow happens with no interference.

Chemical toxicity is battled two ways.  One, get rid of the toxins that exist.  Sounds easy enough.  There are lots of ways to do this: herbal cleansing, juicing, supplementation, dietary change to name a few.  Each case is different and this is to be evaluated after proper examination.  Two, one must QUIT putting toxins in.  This is harder than getting rid of the toxins.  Most people that suffer from migraines have a routine of treatment that has been learned through trial and error.  However, almost everyone takes medicine at some point in their routine.  I understand that there is a time and a place for medicine, but just know that if God meant it to be there, you would have been born with it.

Now for the emotional part.  This can be the most challenging part of treatment for some.  As crazy as it sounds, some people are attached to the attention they get from their ailing.  It fills a void for some people emotionally.  I know what you are thinking…how could someone want to get a migraine?  The attention received from others as they suffer can be a huge subconscious stimulant.  That being said, that is not the hardest part.  The hardest part is facing the emotional events that got you here in the first place.  Emotional healing is hard.  Some of us don’t know where to start or what event it could have been that caused us to suffer today.  A great place to start is seeking help from family, a pastor or priest, counselors or mentors.  They may help identify the event and help you get resolution.  Forgiveness is easy to talk about, but it is a whole other thing to do it.  Once you forgive, whether it be yourself or someone else, true healing will happen.

People suffer needlessly from migraines and correction is possible.  It takes commitment, but living life without the limitations from migraines is motivation enough to do what it takes to get well and stay that way.  Contact me with any questions or concerns you have about your or a loved one’s situation.
