Fibromyalgia Alternative Treatment
What is fibromyalgia? Chances are if you’ve recently been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, you already know about the pain.
Fibromyalgia is a non-life threatening disorder of the muscles. It’s main symptoms include muscle pain, tender points throughout the body, fatigue and sleep disorders. Many people describe living with fibromyalgia in similar ways as living with the flu.
Experts estimate that anywhere from 3 to 6 million Americans are currently living with fibromyalgia, with over 80 percent being women. A woman will typically be diagnosed with fibromyalgia between the ages of 20 and 50, and may also have a contributing factor of lupus, rheumatic disease, or Sjogren’s syndrome.
While the exact cause of fibromyalgia is still undetermined, experts have listed possible causes or triggers as inadequate sleep, physical or emotional injury or trauma, bacterial or viral infection, or abnormal production of pain-related chemicals in the brain and nerves.
Because of this last potential trigger, many patients recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia are finding pain relief in the form of chiropractic care.
Chiropractic care is not about curing. It’s about correcting. Chiropractic care is based on very basic scientific fact. Your brain is responsible for every bodily function you ever perform. Your brain sends instructions through your body via your nervous system. If any area in your nervous system is damaged in any way, the instructions miss their mark – resulting in loss of function. That function may begin as something small and unnoticeable, and may take years to build and become a steady problem.
But once the problem begins, it begins to impact your health, even if it’s ever so slightly.
Chiropractic care is about relieving the pressure, working with your body to get your nervous system back in order. If you are living with fibromyalgia and are looking for alternative treatments that can help you get back to healthy living, give chiropractic care a try.
