If you have a child, you may be familiar with growing pains. When your child complains of unexplained pains in the legs, these are often diagnosed as growing pains.

The Four Phases of Subluxation The Four Phases of SubluxationA subluxation is defined as, “when one or more of the bones of your spine (vertebrae) move out of position and create pressure on, or irritate spinal nerves.” A subluxation can cause nerve interference.

Subluxations can often be corrected by chiropractic treatment. If you leave subluxations untreated, over time, the tissue changes will get worse, leading to subluxation degeneration. To understand subluxations, you need to understand the four phases of subluxation. This information, along with your chiropractor’s advice, will help you determine how long the subluxation has been present and what steps need to be taken to correct the problem.

1.    Phase One – this phase is normally associated with subluxations that have been present for up to twenty years. It includes the loss of the normal spine curve, posture disorientation, and some nerve, disc, joint, and muscle damage. This phase can occur without any pain and, left untreated, will continue to worsen. Chiropractic care can normally treat this phase with relative ease.

2.    Phase Two – this phase is normally associated with subluxations that have been present for 20-40 years. Many people complain about stiffness and aches – however, pain is not always present. It includes bone deformation, possible spinal narrowing, fatigue, and decrease in height. Chiropractic treatment for 1 ½ to 2 ½ years can often have favorable results. Read more
