In chiropractic care, we use the word subluxation all the time. But what does it truly mean? Lets travel back in time 100 years or so to make a quick analogy.Subluxation1 Subluxation – A Basic Understanding

In the old west, the mortal punishment of choice was hanging.  Many people mistakenly think that hanging kills by strangling the victim, this is completely untrue.  Hanging kills the same way that subluxations kill, by causing interference to the mind body connection.

When a person is hung the force causes a fracture of the second cervical vertebra, called a hangman’s fracture (big surprise!), that damages the spinal cord.  When the spinal cord is damaged with this type of force it can cause a complete interruption of the flow of information from the brain to the body and the body to the brain.  This complete disruption is also known as DEATH.

Subluxation causes the same phenomenon to occur.  When the spine doesn’t function properly it loses its ability to protect the nerve system and becomes an irritant by pinching, rubbing, or stretching the spinal cords and nerves.  This causes the same loss of communication between the brain and the body as the Hangman’s fracture, but to a lesser degree so the damages may take months or even years to accumulate. Either way, the end result will be the same.

The moral of the story is:

People are hung for the sole purpose of breaking the mind body connection, subluxation just does it slower!
